Top 5 Documentaries

1. Chasing ice because this documentary is very interesting and talks about current day issues like our ice caps and glaciers melting which can cause serious catastrophe
2. Black fish because its about a killer whale that has taken the lives of several people, man’s relationship to nature, and how little has been learned about these highly intelligent mammals
3. Citizen 4 because this is about something that has been discussed a lot amongst my peers. Its about Laura Poitras receiving encrypted emails from someone with information on the government’s massive covert-surveillance programs.
4. Into the Abyss because they explore capital punishment and convicted killers, their victims’ families, and members of the Texas criminal justice system. and i find this most interesting because this relates to making a murderer.
5. Undefeated is about a school that has the chance to break a 110 year losing streak for football and i like this the least because unless im playing the sport i believe sports are completely boring.

Prescription drug ads

The problems with the pharmaceutical industry began early on with cocaine tooth drops. Drugs ads have been present for just as long as that to encourage people to seek medical advice to buy their product and fund their costly research and development. In the early 1700s and 1800s drug company’s were advertised in papers in ways that were exaggerated or deceptive. In the Twentieth century drugs were separated by two classes, “Medical drugs” and illegal drugs. By the 1900s the FDA issued ad regulations that required a “true statement of information in brief summary relating to the side effects, contraindications, and effectiveness.

Superbowl Commerials

The Purpose for these Super Bowl commercial ads are overall the same purpose for all ads, To sell the product or idea. The commercial ads show both sides of the perspective in the Wendy’s vs MacDonald’s commercial, but in the tide commercial ad there was only one stance. The Content in these commercials were pretty effective to me to get my attention, mostly because they were entertaining.

Current social issues

Should the government increase environmental regulations to prevent climate change? 12,986,267 Americans believe yes, and that the government should provide more incentives for alternative energy and 8,014,899 Americans believe no, and that global warming is a natural occurrence. Out of all the votes 6% believe no, provide more incentives for alternative energy production instead, 3% believe global warming is a natural occurrence, and 1% believe no, tax carbon. Chicago is more in the yes area with 75% and 25% no. out of all of Chicago 18% believe no, 4% believe no provide more incentives for alternative energy production instead, 2% believe global warming is a natural occurrence, and 1% believe no, tax carbon emissions. Democrats vs Republicans, 93% of Democrats believe yes and 7% believe no. 32% of Republicans believe yes and 68% believe no. Socialists are also on the yes side with 92 % and 8% no. Out of all of this data, the common answer is yes the government should increase  environmental regulations to prevent climate change. Global climate change is a very real thing, and we need to find solutions to slow the problem, because at this point climate change is irreversible and in a matter of a few hundred years half of the world will be under water when Antarctica melts. Antarctica is very close to melting as fast at Greenland, and its up to us to slow this process down.
